I’ve got serious iPhone envy going on at the moment. I usually like to have something different and not follow the masses, but I have to confess the iPhone is a great device and I’ll be making the switch as soon as I get the money together. It’s a great phone, mp3 player and mobile browser with unbeatable app support. Yes Windows Mobile has more apps, but let’s face it, the majority of them are crap and nobody wants to use them.

There are so many great iPhone apps. The latest I want to get my hands on is ComicZeal. This app lets you read comics on your iPhone by converting comic file formats (.cbr and .cbz) to a format the iPhone can read. Comics can be read in both portrait and landscape mode. It even remembers where you got to the last time you read a title!

This youtube video that I found on facebook had me almost in tears. It features some mild cussing but nothing serious, your boss probably won’t even recognise some of the swearing.

I suffer this problem doubly as an English Jamaican in America. Nearly everytime I order a coffee or a bagel in the morning the attendant stops to see ‘gee, I don’t understand a word you are saying, but I love your accent!’. I’m not complaining too much, as the accent has come in handy in the evenings ;-)

Friday Theatre: Worst Football Cheats

The level of cheating in Football has reached ridiculous levels, but this compilation of some of the wost dives ever had me rolling around in stiches. Some of these footballers go down so easily, I’m sure my 4 year old niece could take them in a fight.

The headbutting clips near the end are the best I think. Although the theatrics of the Arsenal goalkeeper Lehmann are always good for a laugh!

Friday Timewaster: Matchstick Nuclear Bomb Video

Some college kids spent hours cutting the tops off 30,000 matchsticks and then ignited them all at the same time. Obviously, not quite a nuclear bomb but the explosion did create a mushroom cloud a lot bigger than I expected.

It’s been a while since I studied science, but I’m fairly certain that using a bucket probably wasn’t the best way to generate the maximum explosive force, and also mixing and matching different types of matchsticks probably didn’t help either. I reckon they should done a few smaller runs to see which matchsticks released the most energy and to also see which combinations worked best!

I watched 300 a few weeks ago and I thought it was a brilliant movie, and did a decent enough job of telling the story of the Battle of Thermopylae, where 300 Spartans held back the army of the Persianking Xerxes for 3 whole days.
