Creating animated avatars is the new fad amongst internet communicators. If you do not know what avatars are (in the internet sense), then here you go: an icon or animation to represent a participant used in internet chat and games.
Still images make fine avatars but the fun of having an animated 3D image moving automatically as your avatar cannot be matched by a still image. The internet now has a number of websites and, in some cases, downloadable tools which let users create wonderful animations which for avatar purposes. Today we are going to explore one such animated avatar creation website which is free to use and gives users the maximum functionality. The website is called Avatara.

Before you get started, we suggest that you log in first. You can login using any one of your OpenID accounts (which include Yahoo, Gmail, Facebook, etc.). Once you have signed in, here is what your newly created Dashboard will look like:

To start making an avatar, click on the CREATE A NEW AVATAR button. The first page shows you some animated faces from which you select the face of your avatar.

You can upload the image of a real face and the site will generate a closely resembling animated face. Select whichever face you like and then proceed to customize it.

Customization options are quite detailed and include minute details as well. We can customize the clothing, body, hair, eyes, skin, and even the facial details.
When done with the customization, you can go on and start sharing your just-built avatar.

Sharing options include sharing via email or a number of popular online social networks.

Avatara provides its users with great avatar creation and sharing features in a user-friendly interface; in our opinion, it is the ultimate go-to website for avatar creation.
