Stop Windows Vista From Highlighting New Installed Programs

Like me do you find it annoying when you install a new program in Windows Vista and the program is automatically highlighted in the start menu, until you click on it?  If so, then the guide below will stop this happening:

Windows 7 Start Menu

  1. Click on a blank part of your taskbar and select Properties
  2. In the popup window that appears click on Start Menu and then Customize

    3. Customise Start Menu

  3. In the options that appear, untick Highlight newly installed programs and click OK and then Apply

    4. Customize Start Menu
