Have you ever found yourself away from home and wish you could access one of your files? Or, do you have more than one PC in your home and you wish you could access your files regardless of where they are stored? Then SugarSync is the answer. SugarSync is an online backup service that not only provides 2GB of free storage, but these files can be accessed from any PC and synchronised across PCs.
How does it work? Once you’ve signed up for an account, you then install SugarSync on PC1. The simple wizard then asks you what files you want to backup in real-time e.g. My Documents, Videos, Work Files etc. The application then starts uploading those files to the SugarSync online servers, which allows you to access any of these files from any internet browser.
Then on PC2, you install the same application and log into your account. It will ask you if you want to sync files with PC1 i.e. if a new file is added to the My Documents folder on PC1 then then next time you use PC2, SugarSync will automatically download a copy to the My Documents folder on PC2.
There’s even a fantastic iPhone client available. This allows you to access easily any files that are stored on the SugarSync online folders – brilliant for looking at photos or playing music on the move.
