Expand the Function of Drag and Drop with QuickDrag

Dragging and dropping a file onto an IM chat window or into a folder is about the most common and natural thing to do with your mouse. However you have to wonder why no one built upon that knowledge. If it’s like second nature why is it ignored apart from the 2 functions mentioned above.

Quickdrag aims to answer that very question. Designed as a Firefox plugin QuickDrag is a simple yet powerful plugin that allows you to expand the function of drag and drop by applying it to various task. For example highlight a portion of text and drag and drop it and it will open up in a Google search window, likewise highlight and drag and drop a URL and the website opens up, do the same for an image and it automatically gets saved.

The biggest question I’ve seen people ask is “Where do I drag and drop my item to?” That’s where the beauty lies “Anywhere!”  just highlight some text with your mouse and then click and drag the selection a few millimeters away and you’ll have a Google search open up. Once you wrap your head around this concept you’ll never be able to understand how you’ve lived without this plugin all this time!

A word of warning, do remember that this is made for Firefox! The simple act of dragging and dropping will become so intoxicating that you’ll be trying to drag and drop everything on your desktop in the hopes that it might open up the way you want it to.
