Norton considerably slows down your system and AVG, well its on its way to becoming Norton. Apart from safety CPU usage is a major issue and Norton fails in that department. I have Pentium IV 2.0 GHz if you are wondering and I don’t like Norton as it slows down my PC and that I don’t like. Unless there are some solid comment that bitdefender is light on CPU, I am not touching it.

Norton AV for Gamers, for instance, takes up about 5k; others are slightly more but none should be even noticeable on modern machines.IMHO, the problem with Norton isn't the footprint, it's the interface. And false positives. Both of which drove me crazy (and straight into the arms of Kaspersky).Bitdefender suffers from the same degree of false positives as Norton. If you are looking for the best protection and a (somewhat) lower rate of fp's, try Avira. Their new freebie package works very well and they offer a perpetual free trial (with minimal hassle) of their paid-for package. Nice deal.

Actually, since 2008 Norton has become the *lightest* security package on the market.
