Tips On Upgrading WordPress

I finally updated this site to WordPress 2.3. It was a bit of a nerve-racking experience as it didn’t go right the first time, and I was a bit concerned that a years work was about to go down the drain.

In general, you just should always do the following before upgrading WordPress:

  1. Backup everything !
  2. Reviewed the current WordPress.org list of 2.3 compatible plugins.
  3. Disable all plugins
  4. Copy the new Wordpress files over your old ones
  5. Check the site for errors, if none proceed. If you see errors remove the corresponding code
