I thought it was much to buggy as well when it was first released, but with the latest releases, it is much much better. I found transferring profiles to error prone.

Why reinvent the wheel? Backup one folder (profiles) and there it all is. If you’re keen, make a small batch file to do it at regular intervals, using windows scheduled tasks.

None of the Mozilla backup utilities I’ve tried were worth the time and effort involved. It’s not like Outlook, where stuff requires a backup tool.

Ehh, I’ve tried FEBE (and CLEO, which you need if you want to transfer Themes), and I was never really impressed with them. I’ve had to transfer my profile at least 5 times as I was upgrading my various computer, and many times FEBE just refused to work. It’s too buggy for me. So instead I just copy my whole profile folder, zip it up, send it with Pando, and paste it over. It would be awesome if there was an extension that synced all of your profiles across computers, even when they’re offline, like Google Browser Sync does for bookmarks and passwords (Foxmarks does this too, I just prefer Google Browser Sync).

If I really wanted to, I suppose I could set up FEBE to backup my profile every night, then have another script upload it to an FTP while I’m asleep. Then when ever I needed it, I could just download it and quickly restore it my settings with FEBE, but honestly that’s just too much work.

My recommendation: Don’t use FEBE, just copy the whole profile folder.
