Why You Should Think Twice About Buying A Nokia N95

Everyone is talking about the Nokia N95, which according to Connected Internet is the Best Smartphone Ever. Quite a bold claim, but when once you see the amazing spec you will start to realize why:

  • quad-band GSM/EDGE support and 2100MHz UMTS
  • 5 megapixel autofocus camera
  • a built-in GPS receiver
  • Bluetooth stereo support
  • 802.11b/g WLAN support

If you are considering buying a Nokia N95though, the one area I would think about first is the battery. Powering all of these goodies takes a lot out of the Nokia N95, and according to GigaOm the battery won’t even last one day:

It doesn’t even last the whole day, and that is when you are using it in GSM mode, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS turned off.

That’s awful in my view and unless you plan on carrying a charger in your pocket, then this phone probably isn’t for you.

  • This just re-inforces my decision not to go for this phone despite having been looking forward to getting it for months!

    I think I'll stick with a HTC smartphone for my next purchase, I can wait for a GPS-enabled device until they come with a capable battery.

  • it should last 5 hours, but not if you have wifi, bluetooth on during standby and talk a bit. guess it'll be ok if you charge it b4 you go out.

    i dont care! im not a buisness man anyways! i dont talk much! and when i do its late night at home or out clubbin for max 5 hours... it doesnt last 5hours?
