GrandCentral: One Number For Life
Most people these days have more than one phone number, which rather than making it easier to reach someone can actually make it harder. For instance, which number do you call first - their home, work or mobile? Having more than one number can cause problems for users as well, who have to dial into multiple mailboxes just in case their contacts have dialled a different number.
GrandCentral.com might have the solution for many people. What this new service will do is via a new single number, ring all of your phones at the same time if the new special number is called, and if you don’t pick up all voicemails are left in the same mailbox. This could be handy if you have multiple numbers, or if you are going to change your number because you are changing jobs and don’t want to lose touch with key contacts.
I don’t think this will work of rme as I always have my mobile with me, so people who need to contact me can but if you would benefit from GrandCentral’s service then click here.

Tony,
On the contrary, even with only one number, namely a mobile phone, you still can benefit from what GrandCentral has to offer. The only tradeoff is that GrandCentral asks that you use, tell friends, the new GrandCentral number instead of the physical number tied to your mobile. So when your contacts call you on your GrandCentral number you will be given all the GrandCentral features/options as well as their “kick-ass” voicemail. Also this frees you from being tied to a mobile company or deciding if you should switch from GSM to CDMA or visa versa. With GrandCentral I can change from company to company or from mobile line to landline if I wish; this is because all my contacts will never have to know my “real” phone numbers, all they have to remember is my GrandCentral number, which essentially is a REAL number, just not tied to specific device. I know you might say why would I do this when numbers portablility is always an option through my mobile company? well I’m not fussing with portability anymore since the GrandCentral number is truely portable as long as I have a device to forward it to.

Niraj, did you get an invite yet? I have some.
Everyone else, maybe this is a stupid question, but are GrandCentral phone numbers subject to the same number portability regulations as everyone else? I.e., if I decide to leave GC, can I transfer that # to another device/phone?
