Best Community Plugins For Firefox
One of Firefox’s best features is it’s customizabilty. I could never use another browser as I’ve spent so much time customizing Firefox that I find it hard to use other browsers as I’m always looking for buttons to click with my mouse that don’t exist!
I use a lot of Community/Social Bookmarking sites to keep up with the news and with friends. Here are the best plugins I’ve found that allow me to stay in touch with the communities I’m a member of:
1. Digg This Toolbar
The Digg This! toolbar adds two buttons to your main Firefox toolbar and one menu. With the toolbar buttons you can quickly goto to Digg or Digg the page you are viewing. The menu allows you to goto your Digg profile or any of the top Digg categories.
2. Netscape Submit Story Plugin
This simple plugin allows you to either right click on a webpage and submit it as a new story to Netscape, or via a button on the toolbar.
3. LinkedIn Companion
LinkedIn is one of those networks that is only useful if you have a lot of contacts, which kinda makes sense. Recently they’ve added old schools to the list and its great for keeping in touch with old college buddies. This plugin lets you see LinkedIn profiles for anyone sending you Web email and also search your LinkedIn network from any web site.

4. Fark
In my view Fark is the coolest community. This plugin makes it easy to quote fark.com comments.
5. Del.icio.us
I don’t tend to use Del.icio.us as much as I did last year, but I still have this Firefox plugin installed which allows me to quickly tag pages or search Del.icio.us for tags.
6. Blogmark
This is one of my favourite plugins as it is very unobtrusive. The Blogmark plugin adds an extra ‘BlogMark This Page’ option when you right-click on a page.
7. BlinkList Toolbar
BlinkList is a growing network that might make it big one day. This plugin adds a toolbar that adds a set of options that allows you to manage your lists and links.
8. MyOrkut Toolbar
I finally got an Orkut invite a few months ago and I’m frantically building my network. With this nice Firefox toolbar you can search Orkut, Users and Communities from within your browser. You can even chat with other Orkut users from the toolbar.

9. StumbleUpon
I’d never heard of StumbleUpon until I started getting traffic from it. I love the StumbleUpon concept that allows you to very quickly share sites you’ve found interesting for other readers to ‘StumpleUpon’ This plugin adds a simple toolbar that makes it easy to submit, rate and share new sites.
10. Furl
I don’t use this service that much so I might uninstall this plugin. But, if you are a big Furl user you will love this plugin. This plugin lets you save webpages to Furl quickly as wel as letting you search your saved pages.
Let me know if there are any plugins you use that you think I should add to the list.
