Making your own mp3 ringtones is easy when you know how. All you need is to download a great little application called Audacity.
- Once you’ve done this open up Audacity
- Step 1: Go to ‘File’ then ‘Open’ and find and select your source mp3
- Step 2: Once the file is open listen to the mp3 and note on the waveform where the section is that you want to make into a ringtone
- Step 3: Select the section you want to use by dragging your mouse over the section you want to play in your ringtone. Don’t select more than 30 secs as most rings go to answerphone before this time
- Step 4: Once you have your selection go to ‘File’ again and select ‘Export as MP3′
- Step 5: Audacity will ask for the lame_enc.dll so navigate to where you extracted the dll and click ‘ok’
- Step 6: Now just transfer the new file to your phone and you’ve got a new free MP3 ringtone saving yourself a few dollars
